They released a documentary last year on their Youtube channel, giving the background to the album. With them returning to Jamaica, to the roots of Jungle & Reggae music, you knew they were taking this album seriously.

As quoted in the documentary, “This time we want to make original Jungle, so we came to Jamaica to record with all of our heroes and people we’ve been fans of for years“. Throughout the documentary, you can see clips and people who they’ve been working with to produce music, both for the album and also for dancehall reggae music they’ve been creating.

What we wanted to do is come here and make original dancehall reggae and then sample our own music, like we would of done if we would have found these samples elsewhere. And therefore make Jungle in the authentic way we would have done but with our own original music“, and that’s exactly what they have done! – Watch the full 12-minute documentary to find out more.

Not only the documentary but when videos of Retreat2018 emerged online and began circulating, we knew this new direction for the duo had to be taken seriously. More recently with the huge release of Program featuring Irah, it was, (and still is) HUGE! It’s leaving us even more thirsty for this album.

As well as that, Chase & Status performed huge sets at Hangar London Fields and their Notting Hill Carnival takeover which were followed up by the first releases of the series. Then came a UK tour of RTRN II JUNGLE shows with special guest appearances from countless legends of the scene, culminating in a monumental show at London’s Printworks in November.

This album is going to be original, it’s going to be heavy. You know it’s Chase & Status, you can expect the biggest of the big for this album. Click here to jump ahead of the queue and pre-order your copy.

Tonight, you can catch them playing a special Foundation show set on Facebook at 19:30 UK time. Make sure you lock-in!
